Intel’s next generation Skylake processor gives you a vast scale of processing power, ranging from a 6 core to an impressive 28 core processor. With up to 38.50MB cache per core, and 3.8GHz base frequency, you can scale your operations, improve application performance, and bring your total cost of ownership down, using fewer servers to do more. You also benefit from 2666MHz memory performance and improved bandwidth with built in NVMe support and Intel OptaneTM storage.

This next generation of processors marks the biggest architectural design since Nehalem, and is being designed for flexibility and performance. Ideally suited for industries that use HPC applications, Skylake is highly scalable and features exceptional networking capabilities allowing for efficient computer clusters that meet your needs.
What’s New with Intel Skylake?
Probably the biggest change is the naming convention. The Xeon processor scalable family is changing from the E5-2600 Series and will be broken into 4 levels to indicate the increased capability within the SKUs.
Omni-Path Integrated Fabric
On package fabric integration with Intel Omni-Path will offer additional network flexibility by running 100Gbps directly into the CPU, enabling exceptional bandwidth, helping you scale up your computing cluster. When building a system on integrated fabric, you’ll need to match the SKU for integrated fabric with the corresponding scaleable SKU.
The RZ DC-VN series is scaleable with Intel’s integrated fabric, giving you choice and balance between power and network efficiency.
Faster Memory
Each processor will include an Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) supporting up to six DDR4 memory channels with speeds up to 2667MHz, 11% faster than previous generations. This will support up to two DIMM slots per channel a further 50% increase from previous generations, and will give a memory capacity of up to 1.5TB on select SKUs.
Faster Interconnect
Ultra Path Interface (UPI) is Intel’s new interconnect replacing Quick Path Interface (QPI). This new interconnect offers an 8% increased data rate, up to 10.4 GT/s, 21% improved data efficiency per wire, enabling greater throughput and power efficiency.
